No youth officer in NataGweta

03 Mar 2015

Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Mr Thapelo Olopeng has confirmed to Parliament that since 2014 there has been no youth officer at the Nata/Gweta constituency following the transfer of the then incumbent.

He stated that the ministry has taken a decision to relocate constituency based officers to sub districts and main districts where other support services are available to ensure that young people get a full service. Mr Olopeng said youth in the Nata/ Gweta constituency are therefore served from the Tutume sub district office.

He further stated that the challenge was that where only one officer is stationed in an isolated constituency office they have to keep on referring applications and other administrative issues to the sub district or main district. However he said the ministry is considering making exceptions to the decision for districts with greater geographical dispersions.

Nata/ Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the minister if he is aware that there has been no youth officer in his constituency since 2014 and to state when an officer will be posted or assigned to the constituency. ENDS
