The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has said the delays in the construction of Letlhakeng internal roads are due to factors which impede the initiation of earth works at the start of the project.

Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, such factors included amongst others, a delay in relocation of properties by owners who had been compensated prior to the commencement of the project, a delay in relocation of utility services such as power lines, water pipelines and telephone lines, discovery of old graves whose contents had to be exhumed and reburied. 

They also include delay in setting out the works and a delay inn sourcing of gravel due to late issuance of the mining permits for the two borrow pits identified by the contractor. Takatokwane MP, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had wanted to know what is causing the delay in the construction of the Letlhakeng village internal roads. ENDS
