Minister explains high commissioner stay in UK
02 Mar 2015
The current High Commissioner of Botswana to the United Kingdom was posted to London in 1998, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, has said.
“He has not been transferred, because we have been satisfied with his performance,” she added.
Dr Venson-Moitoi, who was responding to a question in parliament from Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, said Botswana had an ambassador who served in the same capacity for an even longer than the current high commissioner of Botswana to the UK, but at a different station.
Mr Mmolotsi had asked when the current High Commissioner to London was posted, why he had not been transferred ever since he was appointed and whether any other ambassadors or high commissioners had served in the same place for the same length of time or longer since independence.
