Masunga Primary School enrolment at 693

02 Mar 2015

Parliament has been told that the current student enrolment at Masunga Primary School is 693 with average class size of 35 learners.

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya said the school operated as a group two school, which meant it had capacity for up to 800 students.

The school had 21 classrooms of which 20 are used as base-rooms, with the extra classroom being used as a resource centre. Mr Goya said there was another Primary school in Vuki, located four kilometers from Masunga and the school had a capacity of 320 students but currently an enrolment of just 199 students.

“Considering the aforementioned, we do not anticipate any pressure on Masunga Primary School in the next 5 years which would warrant a second Primary School,” he said.

Tati West MP, Mr Biggie Butale had asked if he was aware that Masunga Primary School had over 700 students and was overwhelmed due to the growing size of the village. ENDS
