Ntuan praises public health

MP for Gaborone West South, Mr Botsalo Ntuane has praised the local public health service system, saying it was better than most countries on the continent.
Contributing to the Ministry of Health’s budget estimates, Mr Ntuane said government’s strong commitment to social democratic values had resulted in this good health care system.
The MP for Boteti North, Mr Slumber Tsogwane said there should be strategic use of facilities to ensure wider reception of health services by people living in remote villages.
He also praised the Ministry of Health for reducing incidences of infant and maternal death during delivery, adding that this showed that government was doing a lot to safeguard the health of people.
Tonota South MP, Mr Pono Moatlhodi asked the minister to refurbish Masedi Clinic in his constituency because it was in a dilapidated state.
He also said there should be a primary hospital built in Tonota to cater for the many patients in the area.
Vice President and MP of Mmadinare, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe said more emphasis should be put on sensitising people about healthy living to combat non-communicable diseases.
He noted that sedentary lifestyles had resulted in the increase of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
The MP for Ngwaketse South, Mr Peter Siele asked the minister to turn the Mmathethe and Molapowabojang clinics into 24- hour facilities. ENDS
