Kaizer Chiefs touched down in Gaborone this afternoon (February 27) for their crucial CAF Champions League game against Township Rollers.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys, as Chiefs are commonly called, were welcomed by their supporters as well as Township Rollers officials and other football lovers.
Chiefs marksman, Katlego ‘Killer’ Mphela said in an interview that the February 28 game was going to be difficult looking at the weather conditions. He said their main aim was to bring results despite the hot weather.
Hendrick Ekstein said they were expecting a challenging game, given that the score was very close in the first leg that was played in South Africa. He, however, emphasised that they were in Botswana for a purpose.
Kaizer Chiefs corporate communications manager, Vina Maphosa, confessed that Popa gave them “a scare” in South Africa, and had thus prepared well to avoid any mishaps.
“The players are dedicated and they have vowed not to repeat a mistake of last year by missing knock out stages with an inch, so this time our aim is loud and clear, we want to proceed to the next round.” Township Rollers only need a one-nil win to proceed to the next stage. The game starts at 3 pm in Gaborone. ENDS
