BDF Rollers in do or die encounters
25 Feb 2015
BDF XI and Township Rollers will go for the jugular against their African brothers in two no blows barred CAF encounters this weekend .
On Friday (February 27) BDF aka Matebele are expected to maul Tanzania’s Young Africans, who already have an arm’s length advantage entering the Lobatse Sports complex. Young Africans landed Wednesday (February 25) beaming with confidence having beaten Matebele two nil thanks to Amisisi Tambwe’s brace in a first leg played in Tanzania.
Another thrilling encounter is billed for the National Stadium on Saturday (February 28) where Township Rollers would clash with Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa.
Popa have just emerged from a morale boosting win over a cumbersome BDF XI in the Mascom Top 8 tournament while Amakhosi recently hammered an amateurish Edu Sports 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup.
In the Soccer City encounter Popa disrespected Kaizer Chiefs though they failed to convert their numerous chances which could have put the last nail to the coffin. Their matchmaker Segolame Boy is expected to marshal Popa troops to tame and cage the accomplished South African outfit.
Already scales are tilted in Rollers’ favour thanks to the away goal rule, they only have to avoid conceding a goal but score just one to advance to the next stage. Kaizer Chiefs won 2-1 in the first leg of the encounter owing to a concentration lapse on the side of Rollers.
Meanwhile Rollers chairperson, Jagdish Shah, says preparations were well in track although their latest four eye catching signings will not play owing to legal technicalities.
According to Shah, tickets are sold at their new office, Caltex Filling Station at the Station, Tlokweng Choppies, BBS mall and Township Rollers old offices. ENDS
