Maele not aware of internal roads omission at Gerald Estates
25 Feb 2015
The Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele, has told Parliament that he is not aware of internal roads that were omitted during the recent infrastructure development at Gerald Estates in Francistown.
He said Gerald Estates was an extensive area made up of 12 blocks that were being serviced in phases. He stated that the infrastructure development of Gerald Estates block 5 and 6, which started in July 2008, was completed in October 2012 with all roads including internal roads fully constructed.
Francistown West MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane had asked him if he was aware that Gerald Estates infrastructure development in Francistown had just been completed but the internal roads were excluded. He also wanted the minister to state when he will secure funds to build these internal roads.
Responding to another question Mr Maele said the exercise on the harmonization of boundaries at the Central District is ongoing.
He said he is informed that this proposes the servicing of Mokubilo and Mmea for Boteti sub district adding that the report of the exercise will be presented to the district structures including district council and other relevant structures by March this year.
The minister stated that the ministry will therefore await the decision of the district authorities and thereafter implement the approved recommendations as may be deemed appropriate.
Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister to appraise Parliament on when the process of fully administering and servicing Mokubilo and Mmea villages will be completed and operational given that these villages were previously under Marapong Land Board and have now been transferred to Letlhakane Sub Land Board.
