BOTEC releases 79 employees

Parliament has been informed that Botswana Technology Centre (BOTEC) at its closure released a total of 79 employees of which 14 were scientists; 10 of whom were degree holders, three with Master’s Degrees while one held PhD.
Other employees released who were not scientists include four degree holders and eight Master’s Degree holders.
Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, said Rural Industries Promotions Company (Botswana) (RIPCO), on the other hand released a total of 174 employees of which 30 were scientists with 18 of them Degree holders and 10 had Master’s Degree while two were PhD holders.
Other employees released who were not scientists included 18 employees with Degree, 12 with Master’s Degree one with PhD. Gaborone Central MP, Mr Phenyo Butale had asked the minister to state the number of officers that have been laid off their job from both BOTEC and RIPCO.
He had also wanted the minister to state the number of scientists and the number of those who held Degree and Master’s Degree. ENDS
