Teachers compete for same posts
24 Feb 2015
Parliament has been informed that 10 teachers at Selebi Phikwe Senior Secondary School have been elevated to positions of responsibility in the past five years.
Answering a question in Parliament on Monday, February 23, the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Mr Moiseraela Goya said this is demonstrated by the fact that one senior teacher (I) was promoted to the post of Head of Department in 2012 while nine senior teachers (IIs) were promoted to posts of senior teacher (I) for various subjects between 2010 and 2014.
He further told the House that teachers across the country equally compete with their colleagues for the same posts including those at Selebi Phikwe Senior Secondary School.
Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the minister if he is aware that none of the teachers at Selebi Phikwe Senior Secondary School has been elevated to a position of responsibility for almost five years. ENDS
