Mokaila address water shortage in Nata Gweta villages
24 Feb 2015
The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Mr Kitso Mokaila has told parliament that some villages in the Sowa water cluster such as Kutamogore are currently experiencing serious water challenges due to the dried boreholes and are being supplied through bowsing.
However he stated that the water demand for Dukwi, Mosetse and Sepako is met save for some areas in Dukwi village which continue to experience low pressure because of their siting.
Mr Mokaila said water demand in Nata, Maposa and Manxotai is marginally met adding that the situation became prevalent following the establishment of Nata Senior Secondary School in 2011 which is a high water consumer.
He stated that water rationing is applied in these villages to address the situation and that as part of the long term solution, Dukwi, Mosetse, Kutamogore, Nata, Maposa, Manxotae and Sepako villages will be connected to the Sowa water supply master plan once funding becomes available.
Nata /Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga had asked if the minister is aware that there is a serious shortage of water in Dukwi, Mosetse, Kutamogore, Nata, Maposa, Manxotae and Sepako villages. He also wanted to know what is being done to address the situation. ENDS
