The land occupied by Lousville Apartment at Block 8 in Gaborone was zoned for Civic and Community use, which include schools, hospitals and churches. Answering a question in Parliament , Minister of Lands and Housing, Prince Maele said the plot was allocated through direct allocation to Tlhokomelo ya Bagodi Trust in 1997 for the development of old age home.
He said Tlhokomelo ya Bagodi Trust subsequently transferred the plot to Renaissance Property Holdings and the use of the plot was changed from Civic and Community to multifamily residential use in 2011 in terms of the Gaborone Development Plan 1997-2021.
Regarding Directors of the company, which was awarded the plot, the minister referred to standing order 38.1(m) which reads “a question shall not be asked seeking information which can be found in accessible document or ordinary works of reference and which is readily available in official publications”.
Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked if the minister was aware that the land occupied by Lousville Apartment at Block 8 in Gaborone was zoned for secondary school in the Gaborone Urban Development Plan. He also wanted to know how was the plot awarded and to whom, as well as the directors if it was awarded to a company. ENDS
