Green scorpions on 12 month contract

Green Scorpions are employed on a 12 months contract and they cannot be employed on a permanent basis as there are no vacancies, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen has said.
Responding to a question from Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa, he also stated that government has made a decision not to increase the size of the public service.
MP Nkaigwa had asked in the minister was aware that Gaborone City Council has employed 24 Green Scorpions for over five years on a temporary basis and if he would consider employing them permanently for them to enjoy the benefits of permanent employees. ENDS
