Ministry not aware of savingram
19 Feb 2015
Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moisaraela Goya is not aware of any savingram which advocates for class sizes at primary level to increase to 45 students per class.
Mr Goya said the policy of the ministry remains that once a class reaches 40 an additional learner would cause the class to split and form another class.
He was responding to Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa who had wanted to know if the minister was aware of a savingram that was sent to primary schools in Gaborone that calls for the increase of students per class to 45.
Mr Nkaigwa also wanted to know if that would not further exacerbate the poor performance of students in primary schools.ENDS
