The Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, says he is aware of the high turbidity found in the water from the Sedie Treatment Plant which supplies part of Maun.

“Our initial assessment is that there is need to refurbish and upgrade the plant,” he added. Mr Molefhi , who was responding to a question on behalf of the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources said Water Utilities Corporation was currently identifying alternative sources of water to supply the residents in order for the plant to be shut down for refurbishment.

It was expected that a mobile treatment plant would be deployed in May this year to allow for the refurbishment of the current treatment plant in Sedie.Maun West MP, Mr Tawana Moremi had asked the minister to account for the grime found in potable water in Maun. ENDS
