Declaration of Assets Bill at draft stage
16 Feb 2015
Instructions to draft The Declaration of Assets Bill were forwarded to the Attorney Generals Chambers in 2014 and the bill is still at drafting stage.
Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Phillip Makgalemele told Parliament that the delay in finalising the bill was due to, among other things, policy change after benchmarking experienced in Mauritius and Romania undertaken in July 2014 that have similar legislation.
Mr Makgalemele , who was responding to a question clarified that the title of the proposed bill was the Declaration of Assets Bill and not the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities as Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had referred to it in his question.
Mr Keorapetse had asked the minister to update the house on the drafting and presentation to Parliament of the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities Bill. ENDS
