15 Feb 2015
Diamond Educational Publishers (DEP) has been applauded for adopting Lekgolobotlo Primary School.
Since 2012, the publishing company donated garden tools, furniture, sports equipment and water borne toilets to the school. This time around, they donated sports equipment for all the codes including cricket, rugby and volleyball and a 100 litre jojo tank both valued at P 70 000.
When presenting the donation DEP sales and marketing manager, Hokotsang Mogodi, said it was important for pupils to play sports wearing a proper kit. She said it was critical for children to engage in sports which she described as good for their developing bodies and minds but advised them not to lose focus on their studies, adding education was a key element in today’s life.
Mogodi also challenged parents to allow their children to explore their talents especially in sports. She said many people today were eking out a living through sports. The manager also advised the pupils to jealously guard the donated equipment for it to last longer.
For his part, Moshupa sub council chairperson, Benjamin Mogodi commended DEP for heeding government’s call for private companies to adopt schools. He said stakeholder participation was pivotal to the success of the education system.
When receiving the donation, school head, Seleko Tane applauded DEP for their active efforts to support the school. She said the donation was a shot in the arm for her school.
She further said it would motivate the pupils to become the best they could be in both sports and academics, knowing they were being appreciated. ENDS
