BotswanaPost laden with work
12 Feb 2015
President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama says he is aware that government has overwhelmed BotswanaPost with services.
Addressing a kgotla meeting in Mahalapye on Thursday (February 12), President Khama said he had since discussed the issue with Minister of Transport and communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo.
“I had a discussion with the relevant minister, Mr Mabeo and I told him that government has outsourced several of its services to BotswanaPost but it had not increased its personnel to keep up the pace with customers demand,” President Khama acknowledged.
The president said he had told Mr Mabeo to discuss the issue further with Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Kenneth Matambo. “Also BotswanaPost offices are not enough,” President Khama continued. Thus, he said BotswanaPost was unable to meet customers’ demand.
In addition, he said BotswanaPost had no money to increase staff, which could improve service delivery. President Khama said government was willing to source some funds to address the situation. ENDS
