BAGPIPER PTY LTD is recalling with immediate effect two batches of Choppies branded bottled water of batch SA07 and SB12 because they were found contaminated.

A press release from the Ministry of Health states that the contamination was identified after testing samples from 500ml plastic bottles by the Ministry of Health National Food Laboratory.

The statement says the recalled batches have been distributed nationwide through Choppies retailed outlets. “So far no illness has been reported in connection with the consumption of the water,” adds the release.

The production, it states has been suspended by BAGPIPER PTY LTD while they continue to rectify the breach in their system that led to the contamination.

It says confirmatory tests will be carried out to ensure that the products meet BOBS 143:2011 standard on the provision of safe drinking water, under the Food Control Act.

Consumers who have purchased CHOPPIES branded water in 500ml packages sizes, batches SA 07 and SB 12 are urged to return to the place of purchase, says the release.

Consumers with questions are advised to contact the Ministry of Health at Toll Free Number 0800 600 740. ENDS
