12 Feb 2015
The Department of Road Transport and Safety in Maun has moved to a bigger office and have been able to increase the number of counters and officers to deal with the waiting time.
Responding to a question the Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Tshenolo Mabeo said the number of counters had been increased from three to five while the officers who serve at the counters had also been increased from two to four with a view to increase them to six.
The minister said they were installing computer driver theory testing system with a sitting capacity of 20 candidates per session and this would speed up theory driving tests and also increase the number of candidates per day.
He said they were currently offering a manual theory driving test which can test 20 candidates per day whilst the computer system would be able to test about 180 candidates per day.
Maun West MP, Mr Tawana Moremi had asked the minister to state measures in place to address turnaround periods for service delivery at the Department of Road Transport and Safety offices in Maun given that clients sometimes sleep over night outside the offices in order to get service. ENDS
