Ipelegeng quota will not increase for Boteti East settlements
12 Feb 2015
The Ministry of Local Development and Rural Development is unable to increase the Ipelegeng quota for the villages of Khwee, Mokubilo, Mosu and Mmea in Boteti East as all four settlements currently enjoy employment targets which are above those that would been allocated utilising the formula to determine the quota for villages and settlements.
Responding to a question Ms Botlogile Tshireletso told Parliament that utilising the formula, Khwee should have an employment quota of 32 but has been allocated 160, Mokubilo should have an employment quota of 51 but has been allocated 100, Mosu should have been allocated 48 but has been allocated 100 while Mmea should have an employment quota of 20 but has been allocated 155.
Ms Tshireletso said the reason for this higher quota is in recognition that there is little economic activity in the sub district.
She added that during the 2013/14 financial year the Ipelegeng employment quota for the entire sub district was increased from the initial 752 to the current 884 employment target under the special dispensation following the continuation of the relief assistance to drought hard hit areas.
Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked if the minister will consider increasing the number of Ipelegeng beneficiaries in Boteti East settlements being Khwee, Mokubilo, Mosu and Mmea where there is little to no economic activity. ENDS
