Situation compels schools to conduct outside teaching

The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Unity Dow, has told Parliament that the five schools at Letlhakane in the Boteti Sub-district have a total of 97 classrooms and 123 classes of leaners use these facilities forcing some classes to be conducted outside.
She said 97 classrooms at Supang, Letlhakane, Seaseole, Ratlhatloleng and Mokane had a capacity of 3 880 learners while the current enrolment was over 4 500 learners.
She said the staffing in the five schools was near full strength at 99 per cent or 133 teachers while staff housing consists of 81 houses.
Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister to apprise the house on the situation of primary schools in Letlhakane village with reference to school maintenance, learner capacity, admissions, staffing and teacher accommodation. ends
