Ministry disinfects Seasole school

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is aware that classrooms at Seasole and Khwee Primary Schools are in bad condition as they are infested with bats.

Answering a question in Parliament, Assistant Minister Botlogile Tshireletso said as a remedial measure, on January 12, 2015 her ministry through the Central District Council (CDC) engaged a company to clean and disinfect the classrooms at Seasole Primary School adding that the work was carried out on 14 classrooms and was completed on January 22.

She said in addition to cleaning the classrooms, council crews were engaged to replace the ceiling in all classrooms and a similar exercise will be carried out in Khwee Primary School at the beginning of the financial year as both schools have been included in the CDC budget for major maintenance in the coming 2015/16 fiscal year.

Ms Tshireletso noted that replacement of two toilet doors at Khwee Primary School Will be done by the end of February while malfunctioning toilets at both schools will also be addressed through the maintenance exercise planned for the coming financial year. Boteti East MP , Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked if the minister is aware that Seasole and Khwee schools are in a bad state as bats have been breeding in classrooms and that there is a bad smell as a result which makes learning and life difficult for both teachers and learners.

Mr Lelatisitswe had also asked if the minister is aware that students’ toiles are not working and that the only two that could be used have no doors at all. ENDS
