Ministry addresses access to drainage
08 Feb 2015
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is aware that there are some residential areas in Masunga village that have no access slabs allowing access over the storm water drains into the residential plots.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen said the ministry through the North East District Council, was aware of the 18 plot owners who had alerted council to these omissions and 12 plot owners had been assisted.
He said the remaining 6 plot owners and any other new requests were being attended to by council, utilising the current recurrent budget, while the expected completion of such was end of March 2016.
Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had wanted to know if the minister was aware that the storm water drainage system in Masunga village had no access slabs into residential areas. He also wanted to know what was being done to address the situation. ENDS
