Weekend of epic action
05 Feb 2015
Three games into the second round, the be Mobile Premier league continues to excite even more with twists and turns both at the bottom and top of the table.
Kick-starting week 19 fixtures this weekend, third placed BDF XI will take on log leaders and defending champions, Township Rollers tonight (February 6) at Serowe Sports Complex.
BDF XI who were last year’s runners up in the league triumphed 1-0 at the New Lobatse stadium on February 1 and replaced BMC on the third spot.
They are now six points behind Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs, therefore victory will take them even closer. Matebele are a strong team and Popa should write them off at their own peril.
For Rollers, they will be aiming to put their recent 1-0 loss to Mochudi Centre Chiefs behind them and keep the momentum at the top.
A win for the Gaborone West based side could help them maintain their lead at the top. Popa are currently on top with 40 points and only separated by goal difference from the team below them.
Rollers are expected to field the best team possible after signing top players in the January transfer.
The other big clash this weekend would see the second placed Mochudi Centre Chiefs take on Notwane at the SSKB Stadium at 4pm. The game would be more important than ever for Magosi because anything but three points for them could see them lose their grip on Rollers at the top.
It is worth noting that Magosi gained momentum and are still oozing with confident after downing Rollers last weekend. Their top man, Lemponye Tshireletso who is the current leading top goal scorer would be aiming to get on the score sheet once again.
However, it will be a different mission altogether for Notwane who have not been at their best for few seasons now. They are once again caught in the relegation zone therefore if they pick up maximum points against Magosi, it will be a boost of morale. They have signed new players and they are still fresh from their weekend win over Extension Gunners.
In Selebi Phikwe Stadium, it will be a do or die when Nico United face FC Satmos for the bragging rights of this mining town. Nico United come in to the game with a disappointing series of results the last one being a 2-2 draw with Motlakase Power Dynamos.
They are sitting on the second spot from the bottom and a win is a must if they want to see themselves away from the relegation zone.
FC Satmos did well last season for a newcomer, but have not lived up to the same hype and they also find themselves closer to the unsafe relegation zone. They downed bottom placed Letlapeng 4-0 in their last match therefore they will be hopeful for yet another top performance.
In other matches on February 7, BMC FC will take on Orapa United at the New Lobatse Stadium at 4pm. Ecco City Greens will host Motlakase Power Dynamos at Francistown Stadium at 4pm while Police XI host Sankoyo Bush Bucks at Molepolole Sports Complex at 345pm.
On Sunday, February 8, the first match will see Extension Gunners host BR Highlanders at the New Lobatse Stadium at 3:45pm. In the other game Gaborone United will travel to SSKB Stadium and take on the bottom of the league Letlapeng at 4pm. ENDS
