In 2013, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, through districts, embarked on a study of settlements that were not provided with services and were not recognised and Central District like other district, undertook such a study.

The study had since been completed and it will be presented to the relevant district structures up to one of the full council meeting scheduled for 2015.

Answering a question in Parliament, assistant minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said thereafter, the resolution made will be forwarded to her ministry for consideration.

Minister Tshireletso said at this point she cannot confirm whether Makgaba settlement will fall under the list of settlements to be recognised.The MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked if there are any plans to confirm Makgaba in Boteti Constituency as a settlement considering the latest population census statistics so that the inhabitants could benefit from appropriate developments.
