Ntimbale Dam water for human consumption

Ntimbale Dam was constructed to provide portable water for human consumption only, the Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Mr Patrick Ralotsia, has said.
Answering a question in Parliament, Mr Ralotsia said unlike Lotsane and Thune dams, there were no plans to consider irrigation activities at Ntimbale.
He said his ministry has consulted with Tati Land Board and Water Utilities Corporation who advised that the land around the dam has been demarcated for tourism and pastoral farming activities and that the water is not to be used for irrigated agriculture.
The Member of Parliament for Tati West, Mr Biggie Butale had asked whether the minister does not consider it viable for the Ntimbale Dam to be used to start a horticultural industry in the Tati West constituency. ENDS
