Minister refutes Sowa Town reports
04 Feb 2015
The Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele, has refuted allegations that Sowa Town has not been allocated land for graveyards and churches since 1990.
He told Parliament on February 3 that the township was allocated one civic and community plot for cemetery in October 2006. Mr Maele said two other civic and community plots were leased to Roman Catholic Church and Spiritual Healing Church in February 2001 for purpose of worship and ancillary uses.
He also stated that preparation of Sowa development plan (2013-1037) kick started in October 2014 and will end in 2015 July, saying the plan would amongst others address all the land requirements within the township.
The minister was responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Nata /Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga. Mr Majaga had asked the minister if he was aware that since 1990 Sowa Town has not been allocated land for graveyard and churches. ENDS
