Govt leases redundant boreholes
04 Feb 2015
The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila has told Parliament that government leases redundant boreholes to the public for private use whenever possible.
Responding to a question in Parliament on February 4, the minister highlighted that de-commissioned boreholes in the Tati West area could also be leased out to public for private use.
The boreholes were de-commissioned following commencement of water supply from Ntimbale Dam. The minister however said high yielding boreholes with an acceptable quality of water are reserved to supplement water from dams while some serve as contingency to dams.
The MP for Tati West, Mr Biggie Butale had wanted to know whether time was not right for government to lease the de-commissioned boreholes that used to supply Tati West villages with water to young people. ENDS
