BDF shoot down BMC
03 Feb 2015
Botswana Defence Force (BDF) XI FC kept their hopes for the premiership title alive by beating lukewarm Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) FC by a solitary goal at the New Lobatse Stadium on February 1.
BDF XI scored in the opening minutes of the game through Vincent Nzombe who kept BMC on their toes the whole time especially with pace and composure on the ball. BDF were also compact, attacked and defended as a unit while their opponents sat back for the lions’ share of the time.
But after recess, the introduction of Thato Odirile gave BMC an impetus to start pushing forward in numbers. BMC started punching holes in the BDF defence and exposed captain Mompati Thuma who seemed somewhat suspect on the day, but it was not enough to shake the latter.
In a post-match interview BMC assistant coach Kopano Phakedi said they lost the game because his boys did not execute the game plan to the letter. He said the failure gave the opponents room to play their game. Phakedi also noted that his team had new faces after losing seven key players in the last transfer window. He said the loss has severely affected their style.
Coach Letang Kgengwenyane on the other hand, was happy to pocket maximum points and move to the third spot on the log. However, he decried that they failed to convert some chances they had as a result of some players’ poor decision making, adding some of his players were not match fit. ENDS
