02 Feb 2015

Botswana Premier League (BPL) rookies, Sankoyo Bush Bucks, haves been docked three points and two goals and fined P1 000  after being found guilty of fielding an improperly registered player in an official match against Motlakase Power Dynamos.

The three points and two goals will be forfeited to Motlakase in accordance with rule 6.1.2. In the P1 000.00 fine, Botswana Premier League disciplinary committee delivered the judgement in accordance with the rule 6.2.2 of BFA’s player rules and regulations. Sankoyo were required to pay the money within 14 days from the date of the ruling.

The matter came to BPL D.C following protests by FC Satmos and Motlakase and the matter was solved before the panel last on January 29. The player concerned in the infringement of BFA rules Shelton Sibanda was not registered properly and participated in official games against both teams last year.

According to press release from the BPL, Sankoyo Bush Bucks pleaded guilty of fielding the player in the game against Motlakase and they were duly convicted on their plea of guilty. Moreover, the press release stated that Sankoyo were advised of  their right to appeal within 10 days from the date of the ruling.

However, according to the release, in the matter of the protest by FC Satmos, Sankoyo pleaded not guilty.

Therefore after initial and lengthy questioning and cross examination, the BPL D.C ruled that FC Satmos should go and submit a written submissions on their legal arguments as to why Morris Ruzivo was a defaulter by the close of business on February 2.

Sankoyo on the other side had been required by the BPL D.C to respond to FC Satmos submissions, also in the form of written submission as to their legal arguments on why they believe Ruzivo is not a defaulter by the close of business on Thursday (05 February).

The hearing was adjourned last Thursday night (January 29) to allow for the process to take place, after which the BPL D.C will announce the judgement date.  ENDS
