Diamond Trading Company Botswana has donated specialised education material worth more than P282 000 to Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind.

Handing over the material, DTC head of communications, Mr Kago Mmopi said the donation was the first batch of the equipment of the company’s sponsorship to the centre.

In October last year, DTC released an P1.8 million sponsorship to the centre, which will run for three years. He said they were proud to be associated with MRCB that provided specialised education for blind children hence the sponsorship to the centre. 

Mr Mmopi said, “today we are here to donate 20 Braille, 50 slates, two printers, a scanner and specialised papers for use by the children.”  He said in the second year, they would donate an industrial braille printer while in the final year DTCB would construct a music block and purchase music equipment for the centre. 

The director of MRCB, Ms Sophie Moalosi extended her heartfelt gratitude to DTC Botswana for donating such an expensive educational material to their centre. She said the specialised education equipment for the blind was very expensive and they would not had been able to purchase it if DTC Botswana did not come on board. 

Ms Moalosi said they remained privileged to be accorded such a sponsorship which would go a long way in helping children at the centre learn better. 

She said with the equipment, the children could now learn as much as they want and promised that it would be given the best care and handled with utmost nobility for use by others in the near future.

Giving a vote of thanks, Reverend Sekate from the Dutch Reformed Church said they were humbled by the donation because it was for the benefit the community and the country at large.

He commended DTC Botswana for keeping their promise and also said he remained adamant that this would go a long way in assisting children living with blindness. ENDS
