President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has donated 165 blankets and food hampers to the elderly and destitute of Mokobeng.
President Khama also donated solar lights to the Village Development Committee, Bibles and 700 bags of snacks to children.
Welcoming the President to Mokobeng on Friday January 23, Kgosi Oteng Suping informed him that the village needed a post office because elderly people travelled a long distance to access services at Sefhare Post Office.
He said the village had a serious challenge of water shortage and pleaded with President Khama to see if the village could also benefit from the Lotsane Dam water.
Kgosi Suping also called for the upgrading of the Ngwapa kgotla in order to address the high crime rate in the village.
He said the community also needed a fence to fence the cemetery.
President Khama said he would talk to BotswanaPost to see how they could help.
The area MP, and Minister of Health, Ms Dorcas Makgato thanked President Khama for the visit and promised to take up other issues affecting the community. ENDS
