Mascom improves lives

A local mobile network operator, Mascom, continues to fulfil its commitment to improving the lives of young Batswana by establishing ICT centres around the country.
The mobile network giant, last week awarded 10 young entrepreneurs Kitsong Centres from different villages in Botswana.
Speaking at the Kitsong Centres handover ceremony, Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo encouraged the recipients to take the opportunity as a stepping stone to building and for the betterment of their lives.
He said the awards were a life changing opportunity which needed embrace, hence commended Mascom for the gesture.
The minister however pleaded with the society to refrain from ills such as vandalism of the Mascom transmitters in some parts of the country, which he said was a challenge to life changing projects such as Kitsong Centres.
Mascom has so far 81 Kitsong Centres around Botswana, in which the company continues to provide skills development to the owners to help grow the business.
The young entrepreneurs went through intensive training before being awarded with the Kitsong Centres to operate as their own businesses.
Through this initiative, Mascom is contributing to the ICT sector and responding to the global need of transforming small villages into knowledge based economies.
The 2015 Kitsong Centre winners include Osiile Katane from Motokwe, Badiredi Mokwena from Kuke, Babusi Ngandwe of Mosetse, Kabo Tiro from Manyana, Patson Mokgwathi of Xumu, Gaogakwe Gabatlhaole of Mabutsane, Gaone Bathusi from Marapong, Galaletsang Keepile from Takatokwane, Kgakiso Moipolai of Sojwe and Kefilwe Koboto of Mmashoro.
