Mmathethe moves to alleviate water shortage

Residents of Mmathethe have dispatched a delegation to meet the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Mr Kitso Mokaila to find ways of alleviating water shortage in the village.
This was after the Member of Parliament for Mmathethe/Molapowabojang constituency Dr Alfred Madigele met with village elders recently to come up with ways of rectifying the water situation.
Executive Administrator/research in the office of the MP, Mr Jacob Dikuelo told BOPA in an interview that the area MP was concerned about water shortage in Mmathethe hence the move.Mr Dikuelo said Water Affairs department’s top management in the Southern Region also attended the meeting to make an input with regard to the water situation in the village once and for all.
He said the meeting agreed to send a delegation to meet the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Mokaila to find ways of solving water shortage in the village.Mr Dikuelo said Mmathethe has a population of around 4 000 and needed 970 cubic litres of water on daily basis, adding the village’s boreholes has a production capacity of only 156 cubic litres of water a day.
He said it was on this backdrop that prompted an urgent move to meet minister Mokaila with regard to the water situation. ENDS
