Lack of training grounds cost Tewane teams
21 Jan 2015
Shortage of training grounds and lack of an independent committee to run the constituency tournament are some of the challenges facing Tewane-based football teams.
Chairperson of Young Brothers, Bonewamang Daniel said he was worried that there was only one training ground for the three football teams in Tewane making it difficult to host the tournament.
Daniel said their team had progressed to the top eight something which, might be a result of lack of a training ground.
Despite the challenges faced, he heaped praises on the tournament, saying it had helped a number of youngsters in Tewane by taking them out of the streets.
Also, he said it had provided them with occasional monetary rewards.
For his part, Tewane FC chairperson, Samuel Khobo said lack of an independent committee to plan the games presented a serious challenge to the teams as players were often used as referees during matches, a thing which he said compromised fairness.
However, he said they had seen value of the tournament as two players from his team had already graduated from the team to the Central South Regional Football Association (CSRFA) division.
His dream, he said, was to see more of his players graduating to top leagues in Botswana. ENDS
