Topisi Home Defenders champs

Topisi Home Defenders emerged the champions of Topisi New Year tournament.

They emerged champs after accumulating 13 points, ensuring that they went home P2 500 richer and with a trophy.

When tournament that started on Christmas day went to break on 27 December, Hungry Lions and Topisi Home Defenders had each accumulated seven points while Pele Real Masters had six points.

After the break, Home Defenders won its two remaining encounters while Hungry Lions won one and drew one to claim position two with price tag of P2000.

Real Bombers settled for third spot with eight points and pocket P 1 500 while Pele Real Masters that lost all two marches after break pocketed P1 200.

Topisi United with four points came fifth while Topisi Shooting Stars came last with only a point winning P1 000 and P800 respectively.

In an interview with the chairperson of the organising committee, Baseketetsi Lesoletsile said each participating team paid registration fee of P500 while Justice Moilwa of Sismo Company sponsored the tournament with P6000 and a trophy.

Through the tournament, Lesoletsile said they had built a toilet to one less fortunate person in the village and each participating team would donate P200 from their winnings towards the two identified less privileged students in Chakaloba Primary School (where the tourney was hosted) who were not assisted by Social and Community Development.

The money would be used to buy uniform and toiletry for the duo.

In addition he said 30 percent of gate takings would be channeled to School developments. ENDS
