Ntema said after consulting with Madikwe Ward Development Committee (WDC), the social worker told them that they have identified Manyepedza as one parent who needed help as she lives alone.
He said that they went around the village asking for donations to increase what they had and managed to collect P600.
Furthermore, he noted that they spent P1 000 to buy Manyepedza food and toiletry and also swept her compound as well as wash her clothes before spending the day with her.
The coach said they have adopted Manyepedza as their parent and would continue to assist and look after her for many years.
He urged other teams to raise money by using their talents in sports, saying that sports can be used as a career to better one’s life.
In addition, he said that physical exercise was good for the body and also prevents the youth from indulging in crimes and misbehaving.
Addressing club members, the beneficiary, Manyepedza said she was happy to have received the donations from the club.
She said she lives alone as she did not have children and thanked the volleyball club for choosing to adopt her.
Manyepedza further said she had no one to help her with house chores, but she believed that her life will change for the better.
She said parents should allow their children to participate in constituency games and stop roaming around the streets causing trouble.
