All roads lead to Molepolole8232

It has been a thrilling run of the be Mobile Premier League so far and to top it all, the biggest teams in Gaborone will clash as the last match day of the first round goes underway this weekend.

The biggest game of the weekend will be on Saturday, December 20, and surely a better way to finish the first round will see the log leaders and defending champions, Township Rollers, face their city rivals Gaborone United at Molepolole Sports Complex at 3:45pm.

Initially, the game was supposed to be played at the National Stadium but because of branding issues between be Mobile and Mascom, the game was moved to the Kweneng capital.

Despite that, all will not be lost as fans of both teams will travel to Molepolole to see their favourite teams play.  Rollers has not yet tasted defeat this season and has opened a margin of six points at the top, therefore GU will have a tough job and a streak to break.

Rollers will be without their head coach, Madinda Ndlovu, who has travelled to his home, Zimbabwe.  Teenage Mpote will be at the helm of the team to continue where he left of last weekend when Rollers dismantled FC Satmos 4-1.

Now, like a predator Rollers will be looking for their next prey, and it remains to be seen if the Money Machine, would starve Mapalastina on the day. It is without doubt that Rollers will be the favourites as GU has imploded this season after finishing third last season.

Conversely, despite losing to Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the last game, GU should not be underestimated because they know Rollers very well and the two will renew their old rivalry once again.

Toppled out of the top four bracket, a win for Moyagoleele will increase their chances of making it back as the league heads into the second round. GU is one of the most unpredictable teams in the league, and Rollers should write them off at their own peril.

The Reds are sixth in the table with 24 points.  GU head coach, Rahman Gumbo will face his former side and the very same team he last won the BeMOBILE Premier league with so he will be aiming to prove them wrong.

The game would be very important for the Money Machine because it could be their last attempt to change their season around before the holidays. Meanwhile, GU has built up confidence when they beat Gunners two weeks ago and the loss last weekend will be seen as nothing but a setback.

Their top scorer in the league this season, Kgololo Kgogobi was heavily criticised for his form since arriving at the club, but he appears to have turned the tide and he currently has five goals.

With the Gaborone derby being played at Molepolole, it promises another showdown because each of the last season Premier League meetings between them have featured goals. In the other fixture billed for this weekend, Mochudi Centre Chiefs take on Police XI at Molepolole Sports Complex on Friday (Dec 19) kick-off is 4:00 pm.

The other game that would be played on Friday at 7 pm will see BR Highlanders face Motlakase Dynamos at Serowe Sports Complex.

On Saturday, Sankoyo Bush Bucks meet Orapa United at Maun Sports Complex. BDF XI will meet Extension Gunners at SSKB Stadium while FC Satmos will face Notwane at Selebi Phikwe Stadium. All games kick off at 4:00 pm.

On Sunday, the only match of the day will be Nico United up against Ecco City Greens at Selebi Phikwe Stadium. Kick-off is 16:00. ENDS
