16 Dec 2014
Moshupa residents have been urged to utilise Moshupa library which exists to provide information for education, research and recreation through documentation, preservation and management of literacy heritage.
Marketing manager of Collegium Educational Publishers, Ms Tashatha Majaye made the call during public library day in Moshupa recently.
She encouraged residents to feel free to use the precious resource, and encourage their children to use the library by reading newspapers and magazines and be aware of what was happening around the world and also discover opportunities waiting to be explored.
Ms Majaye also encouraged people to come forward for computer training so that they would not be left behind as technology becomes more advanced. Information and knowledge gained, he said, would be one’s asset as nobody could take it away.
She said libraries hada recognised social function in making knowledge publicly available to all; as they serve as local centres of information and learning, and were gateways to national and global knowledge.
She further said that they provide opportunity for continuous self-education of children, youth and adults, adding that they also provide a more advantageous use leisure time through books and audiovisual.
Ms Majaye stated that public libraries have the potential to bridge the gap between the information for the poor and the rich by ensuring that people from all sectors, settings of society and the economy were very crucial.
She noted that all the resources that were easy to access and affordable had been placed before them and therefore it was upon them to take that step and utilise them.
Ms Majaye also encouraged them to form book clubs where they would read and discuss the contents. ENDS
