ARV roll-out successful in Southern District
16 Dec 2014
The Southern District has made successes in rolling out ARV services to all health facilities, chairperson of Kanye Administration Authority (KAA) Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela has said.
Mr Dibeela, also a councillor for Dilolwe ward in Kanye, said the district through public service cooperation hadenrolled HIV positive pregnant women on PMTCT and provided psychosocial support to orphans and vulnerable children.
Speaking during the World AIDS Day commemoration in Ntlhantlhe on December 12, Cllr Dibeela said despite efforts put by the district to move towards ‘Zero New Infections Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS Related deaths,’ there were existing factors that continued to work against such efforts such as lack of commitment to the fight against new infections.
Mr Dibeela also cited issues such as failure by HIV positive women to register so that they could benefit from PMTCT programme, which defeated efforts geared towards winning the war. The district, he added, continued to observe HIV positive test results for every three months report.
Before the event, 14 youth aged 20, participated in the 22km bicycle race from Ntlhantlhe to Mogobane and back.
The first three cyclists won themselves prizes. First prize went to Loago Radimo, who got P1 000, Bernard Sintrao received P850 for second position while the third cyclist, Ookeditse Banthusitse got away with P650. ENDS
