The Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, says since April 2009, his ministry has only engaged Unik Construction out of four construction companies namely Group Consult, Zebra Construction and Bango Trading Pty Ltd in the last five years regarding projects awarded.

Mr Molefhi indicated that Unik Construction was awarded a tender to construct Nata Senior Secondary School and the contract amount was P557, 465, 333.20, and the final payment made to the contractor was P542, 109,983.70.

He further said Unik Construction was awarded another tender in November 2011 to refurbish Rakops Primary Hospital for P12, 314,478.40 of which P9, 215,776.81 has been paid to date.Mr Molefhi said the work at Rakops Primary Hospital was still running.

He went on to say that the total gross payment to Unik Construction since April 2009 was P551,325,705.10 for building the type of infrastructure the Ministry is mandated to oversee.MP for Gabane-Mankgodi Major General Pius Mokgware had asked the Minister to state projects awarded to Group Consult, Unik Construction, Zebra Construction and Bango Trading Pty Ltd and the amounts paid in the last five years, and to also state the previous and current shareholders of the above mentioned companies.

Minister Molefhi advised MP Major General Pius Mokgware with regard to shareholding of Unik Construction to liaise with the Registrar of Companies. ENDS
