The newly elected Tonota Sub-district chairperson, Retired Colonel Anderson Moalosi has appealed to donors to assist the less privileged members of the community.
Speaking at the sub-council chairman’s ball on December 12, Councillor Moalosi said although the council had managed to make achievements in some areas, it was still faced with budgetary constraints.
He therefore appealed to donors from all sectors of the economy and associations to help in the support of the disadvantaged members of society. Councillor Moalosi, who is also Shashe Mooke political representative, said donors could also assist the council to promote education through the Adopt-a-School Initiative.
He said during the 2013/14 financial year, his council constructed six Rural Area Development Programme (RADP) housed and six destitute houses throughout the entire sub-district.
He said during the current financial year, six RADP houses were under construction and were expected to be completed by the end of the financial year.
He applauded Tlhalogang Junior Secondary School staff, Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS), Bomme ba Motsamao, Debswana, Banc ABC and Gojwane Police cluster for donating to the less privileged members of the community.
On other issues, he informed the gathering that Tonota village scooped the first position in Central District Clean-up campaign this year, adding that the village had been in the same position for the past three consecutive years.
He also seized the opportunity to congratulate all those who emerged victorious in the general elections and commended their predecessors for the hard work towards improving the lives of the people in the entire sub-district. ENDS
