There are two Choppies stores in Block 8, one is on plot 34114 and the other on plot 36161 and none of these plots were allocated to Choppies Superstores.

Answering a question in Parliament, Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele, said lot 34114 was allocated to Seemise Seabelo Construction (Pty) Ltd through open tender on May 11 2006 but currently belongs to Estate Property Investment (Pty) Ltd following transfer from Seemise Seabelo Construction (Pty) Ltd in March 2012.

He further said lot 36161 was allocated to Diplomatic Services (Pty) Ltd through open tender in May 2006 and was transferred to Lemon Properties (Pty) Ltd in May 2014.

MP for Gaborone North Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the Minister how Choppies Superstores acquired land that is currently housing all its operations at Block 8. ENDS
