Six chief education secretary positions vacant

11 Dec 2014

There are six vacant chief education secretary positions in six councils countrywide, according to the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso.

Ms Tshireletso said the positions were at Kgalagadi, Kgatleng, Ghanzi, North West, North East and Kweneng District councils. The positions remained vacant due to transfer resistance and protracted appeals by staff that was transferred to fill the said positions, she added.

Responding to a question in Parliament, she said the transfers were eventually withdrawn and the positions re-advertised and the ministry is however finalising recruitment into chief education secretary positions and others.

The MP for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister to state the number of posts of chief education secretary which are vacant countrywide and to say in which councils; he had also wanted to know when such posts fell vacant and why they have not been filled. ENDS
