Rollers continue unbeaten run
07 Dec 2014
Segolame Boy powered Township Rollers to victory over Motlakase Power Dynamos on Friday evening (December 5), strengthening the champions lead in the be Mobile Premier League to six points.
Boy scored the solitary goal in the 1-0 victory towards the end of the second half at Serowe Sports Complex to stretch Rollers unbeaten start to the season to 13 league matches. Having collected 33 points now, Rollers are six above second placed Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Chiefs thrashed FC Satmos 4-2 on Saturday.
Before scoring the winner, Boy had wasted some scoring opportunities, especially when he ballooned a brilliant pass from Manqoba Ngwenya way over the goal post in the first half. His goal however seemed to inject his self-confidence as he made some excellent passes in the last minutes of the game.
Though the Palapye side failed to get something from the match, they made the defending champions work hard for the victory. In fact, Motlakase nearly forced a share of the spoils in stoppage time, but Rockie Nkwes curling freekick was brilliantly saved by Rollers goalkeeper Mwampule Masule.
Motlakase goalkeeper Kagiso Rankabekwa was brilliant between the posts as he stopped Rollers from scoring more goals.
The victorious coach Madinda Ndlovu admitted that the game was tough. He said his side missed the services of the likes of Leutwetse Tshiretso, Oscar Ncenga and Sekhana Koko who are injured, and Motsholetsi Sikele and Lesego Molemogi who were on suspension.
Motlakase goalkeeper coach Sparks Ndubo said though they lost the game he was happy that they played well as they did not concede many goals. ENDS
