Second Mascom Live Session coming

13 Mar 2013

This year’s second Mascom Live Session is billed for BotswanaCraft on April 5.

Mascom Live Sessions, which are held throughout the year, are some of the exciting events in the BotswanaCraft’s calendar.

This time around, a South African Afro-fusion band, Freshlyground and local leading jazz-soul vocalist, Kearoma Rantao are set to perform at the event.

Freshlyground’s musical style blends elements of traditional South African music such as kwela and African folk music, blues, jazz and feature of indie rock.

The band was formed in Capetown in 2002 and its band members hail from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

The event comes after the successful jazz show, which was also the first event in 2013 calender. It featured artists from Sweden and renowned local Jazz maestros in the likes of Lister Boleseng, Shanti-Lo and Nnunu Ramogotsi.

However, this year’s Mascom Live Session would also act as a platform for Freshlyground to launch its new CD called Take Me to the Dance.

According to BotswanaCraft director, Oliver Groth, the combination of Kearoma and Freshlyground is expected to create a great musical experience and journey for those who will make it to the show.

The Mascom Live Sessions started three years back and to date BotswanaCraft has hosted high profile artists in the likes of Hugh Masekela, Oliver Mutukudzi, Salif Keita, Thomas Mapfumo, Banjo Mosele, Ringo Madlingozi, Shanti Lo, Micassa, Lira, Celtic Fusion and Bhudaza among others. ENDS
