Deloittes project almost complete
04 Dec 2014
Parliament has been informed that the Deloitte and Touche Consultancy project on job profiling, job measurement and salary survey at the University of Botswana emanated from an agreement that university unions and university management signed in order to end the Industrial action that occurred in September 2010.
Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Unity Dow said in Parliament that the Industrial action had come about as a result of dissatisfaction by unions pertaining to the then proposed university revised salaries structure, which had been informed by the Global Consult Report.
She said the project was initiated in July 2011 and had four phases which included development of competency framework, conducting job analysis and development of 350 new job profiles.
Other phases included conducting evaluations of the various jobs and conducting a remuneration survey and review of the University salary structure.
Further, Dr Dow said the first three phases of the consultancy work had been completed and the last phase was also near completion, while a total of P3 885 067.61 had been paid to the consultants.
Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had wanted to know the progress of the Deloitte and Touche Consultancy on job profiles and measurements at UB and how much had been paid to the consultants so far. ENDS
