4 600 have disability exemption cards
04 Dec 2014
The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale, has told parliament that the condition for eligibility for disability exemption card is that a person should have a disability that limits his/her ability to function in society on an equal basis with normal and able bodied beings.
Mr Molale said these included inability to carry out daily living activities independently, that is, without support from others like care givers. Mr Molale said the current number of people with disabilities who are in possession of the card is 4 600 as at end of November 2014.
MP for Kanye West Mr Abram Kesupile had asked the minister to state the conditions for providing a disability exemption card to a person with disability. He had also asked him to state the services that could be accessed through the use of this card and the number of people presently in possession of such cards. ENDS
