Ghanzi has three types of land tenure

The Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele says there are three types of land tenure in Ghanzi District and the Ghanzi North constituency.
Responding to a question in parliament from Ghanzi North MP, Mr Noah Salakae, Mr Maele said the three types included state land, tribal land and freehold land.
The total Land mass of Ghanzi District, he said was 114 873 square kilometres, of which state land covered 54 249 square kilometres (47 per cent); Freehold covered 14 324 square kilometres (13 per cent); and Tribal Land was 46 299 square kilometres (40 per cent).
“In this regard, the total area of Ghanzi North constituency is approximately 72 578 square kilometres apportioned among the three tenures as follows; state land 72 per cent, freehold land 17 per cent and tribal land 11 per cent,” he added. Ghanzi North MP had asked the Minister of Lands and Housing to state the different types of land tenure in the Ghanzi North constituency and the proportionality. ENDS
